Migrating 4 legacy platforms with 100k+ users into 1 after acquisition

Amber Deals acquired DUB, Europe's largest business-succession marketplace, and ended up running four platforms at once. We moved a decade of data out of all four and into the single platform their engineers were building.

Let’s talk

We’ve always been skeptical about working with agencies — until I hit a problem I couldn’t solve. I reached out to Tom, and not only did he help me immediately, he did it for free. That moment kicked off an ongoing collaboration that’s been incredibly smooth ever since. They fully optimized our Bubble app for mobile, added new features, and were always lightning fast. Super happy with the team — wouldn’t want to miss them.

Challenge

Selling a small business in Germany is hard. If you own a garage or a coffee shop and you're ready to retire, you're too small for an investment bank to bother with. Amber Deals was built for those owners, and Florian Adomeit built the first version of it himself.

We spent about a year improving that app. Then Amber Deals acquired DUB, and one company was running four platforms at once.

Main challenges:

  • 4 platforms to fold into 1: DUB on TYPO3, the Amber app on Bubble, the advisor directory on WordPress, the marketing site on Webflow
  • 100,000+ accounts to migrate, many existing on more than one platform
  • 10 years of listings, deals, contacts and billing history to move across
  • 2 of the 4 platforms still in daily use while we moved them
  • A target platform that changed mid-project

Solution

We ran the data migration. Florian's engineers built the new platform.

The data came out of DUB, the Bubble app and the advisor directory; the Webflow site was retired. Their team stayed close to the work the whole way, and that is what makes a migration this size hold together.

We focused on:

  • A staged pipeline: extract, reconcile, then load into their new database
  • 5 account situations to resolve, including two-account merges
  • Deals, saved searches, listings, contacts and settings carried across
  • Live subscriptions onto Stripe, contracts and terms untouched
  • 2 full rehearsals on production data before the cutover

Results

Four platforms are one platform now, and it runs on dub.de. Amber Deals made the acquisition, but DUB is the name that survived it.

The cutover ran over a single weekend in July 2026, 6 months after the work began. When customers signed in, their deals, saved searches, listings and contacts were already there. Passwords were the one thing that couldn't come across, so everyone set a new one once.

Anatolii ran the migration, and he now sits inside their engineering team: the first time we've placed one of our developers inside a client's team.

Impact:

  • 4 platforms consolidated into 1, live on dub.de
  • 100,000+ accounts migrated
  • Deals, saved searches, listings and contacts carried across
  • Contracts and terms unchanged for every customer
  • 1 developer embedded in their team, ongoing

Business growth

Four separate platforms are one platform now, live on dub.de. Customers signed in and their deals, saved searches, listings and contacts were already there. The switch happened over a single weekend.
